SIGNAL BOOST PLEASE READ AND REBLOG THIS PLEASE
All right everyone, so one of my best friend’s niece and her friend went missing yesterday morning. They stole four hundred bucks and left a note saying they were going to a bus station. They’re only fourteen and fifteen and four hundred bucks will not get them far.
In case you can’t read the bottom picture: “Lauren Byron and Victor Griffin were last seen on 12/07/13 at approximately 8:30 AM in Amesbury [Massachusetts]. Both juveniles are believe to have run away from home ad have left over 20 letters to their friends and family that they were ‘Going away for a while.’ Their cell phones have been shut off and their social media profiles have been deleted. It was reported that one of the juveniles (Victoria) was seen at a bus stop in front of Stop & Shop in Amesbury on the 7th at approximately 10:30 AM. The pair may be headed to unspecified locations in Florida via Boston.”
Please guys, please reblog this and help my friend out. Everyone is so worried and no one even realized she had gone missing until around 5:00 PM last night. So that would’ve given them almost an entire day [eight or nine hours] to leave the state. If they actually did leave, that is.
So all I’m asking for is that y’all take the two seconds it takes to reblog a post. Help us find these two young girls. Please keep an eye out wherever you are. Please, please, please!!
Alright, here’s something funny. These boys in my hall went outside in their undies to take some photos in the snow. Funny, right? They’re trying to get attention and it’s hilarious. Us ladies choose to do the same, we are wearing more clothing, and are doing the exact same poses. We are wearing as much clothing as is acceptable at the pool or the beach, at the gym, etc.
There is a serious double standard here— us girls have gotten responses like:
"What’s the point of being half naked?"
"*ahem* sluts *ahem*"
"What’s wrong with you females?"
Or worse, what my mother said. Her initial shock was apparently because she thought I was in my underwear, but when I told her I was in a swimsuit, she was suddenly happy I was having fun in college.
The idea here is that we are doing the same thing. When arguing this point with one of my hallmates, he said “But men’s bodies aren’t built the same, you don’t see girls getting pumped up over a topless guy, but how many guys do you think are gonna get all crazy over a topless girl?” Seriously? Really? Women don’t need to dress in order to avoid a reaction from men. You’re mad because you can’t control yourself? Men can pose in their undies in the snow without an issue because women aren’t going to go wild over it? Keep it in your pants, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
The double standards are killin’ me.
"Keep it in your pants, that’s your responsibility, not ours." Is literally one of the best quotes I’ve ever heard. Thank you.
Nathan: Well, I’ve always dug the beauty and elegance of post - war American design. People had a sense of timeless style and civilized decorum back then.
Daria: Well yeah but you also had the timeless style of cold war conformity and the civilized decorum of segregation.
i can’t believe daria was calling out fedora douchebags before reddit even existed
I think, at this point in our world, we’ve got a really confused idea of the way that gender and sexuality work and we’ve created this really superfluous binary in the way we think about gender. I guess I identify as queer because I don’t identify with that. [x]
